Olympus M.ZUIKO 25mm f/1.2 PRO test
I got a chance to test the new Olympus 25mm/1.2 lens before it is in stores or even announced. I hate secrets but this was pretty damn cool!! Thank you for trusting me Olympus. I use the 75mm/1.8 a lot for model photoshoots but this a great addition to my camera bag.
The new lens is quite much bigger than the 25mm f/1.8 but very fine build quality. Nice PRO feel to it. It comes with a lens hood and has a nice wide and smooth focus ring. I shot some of these photos with manual focus because focusing in auto mode was difficult having a see through curtain covering the models face. Worked very nicely even the depth of field is super narrow at f/1.2.
Another setup with Miss Finland 2014 Bea Toivonen was so that I was on the balcony and shot through the window getting nice reflections on the glass. This one also at f/1.2. I'm very happy with the sharpness even at aperture wide open. Also nice tones and good contrast.
Another shoot was with Miss Helsinki 2017 finalist Anniina Kangas. I took it really easy with photoshop to keep the characeristics of the lens visible. I tried to get some depth into the shots so the bokeh would be seen. Nice and soft.
f/1.2, 1/100sec, ISO 200
The third shoot I had was with Miss Finland 2016 Shirly Karvinen. We shot in her home and I wanted to use natural light to get a soft easy natural feel to the photos. I almost got in trouble. We started a bit late and it was getting already dark outside. f/1.2 sure was a saviour.
You can really see how nice and soft the bokeh is in this photo shot outside.
This last shot of Anniina below is a completely unedited photo so you can see the image quality with the Olympus E-M1. ISO200, f1.2 and 1/800sec
